Design for Lockwood
2011 Competition
Key to the Key
The theme for the 2011 competition was Key to the Key. Any member of the design community was eligible to enter, including architects, industrial designers, interior designers and students.
The competition, was launched at designEX (Melbourne) in April 2011, seeking an innovative new design to the simple key head. The theme encouraged entrants to consider sustainable designs and the latest product innovation trends, which was the 'key' to successful design. Think outside the square of current key heads… aesthetic, original ideas that take steps forward in the evolution of the humble key.
Entrants were asked to submit designs that would change the way we look or use keys, now and in the future. Each concept; be it fashionable, functional or futuristic was judged on usage, relevance and design.
The jury panel was made up of an Institute of Architects representative, a practicing architect, and two ASSA ABLOY representatives.
Together the Australian Institute of Architects and Lockwood continue their united support of design professionals.
Previous winners of the prestigious competition include Robert Watson and Lara Mikocki for their innovative door furniture designs.
