The new School of Veterinary Science for the University of Queensland is a 5 building state-of-the-art facility which includes a major research facility, a small and large animal teaching hospital, post mortem and anatomy teaching laboratories, animal holding facilities and administrative accommodation.
Architectus were engaged by the University of Queensland to undertake the design for the relocation of the School of Veterinary Sciences from the St Lucia campus to the Gatton campus. Architectus in turn engaged Greg Rech to help put together a full ASSA ABLOY specification which included Lockwood 3570 and 3580 mechanical and electric mortice locks, 1800 and 4800 series plate furniture, 7714 door closers and ABLOY PROTEC keying.
The relocation provides the Veterinary School with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and provided for recent accreditation with the Australasian Veterinary Board and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, as well as with the view to gain accreditation by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
This world standard teaching complex was awarded a regional commendation at the Darling Downs Queensland Architecture Awards held in March 2011.
