Lockwood MT5 Obsolescence
Lockwood is committed to maintaining strong, active legal protection across all keying systems. Following a detailed review of the MT5 platform and its expired legal protection, together with its limited installed base, we are commencing the End-of-Life process for MT5. Support for MT5+ will continue without interruption.
The process begins with the run-out of existing MT5 barrels. These components will remain available until further notice. Once stock is fully depleted or reaches a stage where it is not commercial viable to hold stock, MT5-specific items will be formally marked as obsolete, and a further communication will be issued at that time.
We strongly encourage customers with MT5 systems to transition to the patented MTL800 system, which offers legal protection until 2039. MT5+/ MT5 keys were discontinued, and only MTL800 keys have been supplied since the end of 2023. The MTL800 keys are backward-compatible with both MT5+ and MT5 systems, ensuring a smooth transition.

With most existing systems now based on MT5+, demand for MT5 is minimal and does not support continued production.
